Moving to Mound
Hennepin County's community of Mound is happy to have you as a new resident in our small tight-knit community. Our little-known town has many things to boast of, including being the birthplace of the Tonka truck as well as TV star Kevin Sorbo and author Lisa Wysocky. We are certain that you are going to enjoy living in Mound with all of the things you can do.
Known as the "City of All Seasons," Mound has many parks that residents can enjoy all year round. In fact, there are more than 25 parks to choose from, including Mound Bay Park, which is the most visited and popular park in the city. Mound Bay Park sits along Lake Minnetonka and has beach areas, park pavilions, play areas and boat launches so there is something for the entire family. The town of Mound has more than 17 miles of shoreline so there is plenty of room for everybody to enjoy the lake areas without getting too crowded. For more information about Mound parks and recreational areas, call City Hall at (952)472-0613.
The Mound City Council is dedicated to making the city a better place to live for all residents. The council meets every second and fourth Tuesday of the month during the months when they are in session. The Mound Fire Department strives to keep you safe in case of a fire or emergency. It services the community of Mound and four other cities in the surrounding area and it has been doing that since 1923. The department recently moved to a new facility so the Mound Fire and Police Departments are now in the same building which has become the Mound Public Safety Facility. The new facility has modern amenities that help emergency personnel serve the growing needs of the various communities. The Mound Fired Department also holds an annual fish fry for area residents to help purchase equipment and much needed tools to help serve the community. For more information about the fire department and its services, call (952)472-3555.
